Smt S K Somaiya College of Education brought environmental awareness to life on 26th February 2026 through a Photography Exhibition cum Competition on Environmental Studies—an initiative that moved learning beyond classrooms and into lived observation.
Instead of relying on theory, student teachers were encouraged to step out, explore their surroundings, and capture nature as they experienced it. What followed was a collection of photographs that reflected not just creativity, but perspective. From everyday landscapes to subtle details often overlooked, each frame carried a quiet message on sustainability and coexistence.
Proposed and guided by Dr Mamta Mali, the initiative pushed students to engage with the environment more consciously. It wasn’t about perfect shots—it was about noticing. And that shift was visible across the exhibition.
The displayed works transformed the space into a visual narrative of environmental thought. Some images highlighted beauty, others hinted at imbalance, but all of them invited reflection. The exhibition became less about competition and more about conversation.
Evaluated by Smt Meera Singh and Ms Swati Waghmare, the entries were appreciated for originality, relevance, and intent. Their feedback encouraged students to continue using creative expression as a medium for awareness.
The initiative reinforced a simple but important idea—environmental education is most impactful when it is experienced, not just studied.
