There are some places that remain a part of you long after you leave them. For generations of doctors who began their journey at K J Somaiya Medical College & Research Centre, the campus is one such place.

On 20 June 2026, alumni returned to Somaiya Ayurvihar for an evening that was less about revisiting the past and more about reconnecting with the people, memories and experiences that shaped their lives. Alumni Meet 2026 brought former students together with the institution and the current student community, creating a space where professional journeys met old friendships and familiar memories.

For many alumni, returning to campus meant returning to a formative chapter of their lives. The corridors, classrooms and familiar surroundings carried memories of student life, mentors and the early years of their journey into medicine. Years after graduating, the evening offered an opportunity to pause and look back at where those journeys began.
The gathering also reflected the evolving relationship between the institution and its alumni. In her welcome address, Dr Mitali Nayak, Dean, K J Somaiya Medical College & Research Centre, welcomed the alumni back to the institution, while Mr Samir Somaiya, Chairman, K J Somaiya Medical Trust, spoke to the larger journey and continuing vision of the Somaiya medical ecosystem.
A particularly meaningful part of the evening came through the Alumni Reflections and Sharing of Memories, where alumni spoke about their experiences at the college and the role it played in shaping their professional and personal journeys. Their stories offered a glimpse into the many paths that began from the same campus and have since taken them into different areas of healthcare.
The evening also brought together two generations of the institution. A cultural performance by students of K J Somaiya Medical College added a lively touch to the gathering, allowing current students to become part of an occasion centred on those who had walked these halls before them.
As conversations continued over live music and dinner, the formal boundaries of an alumni gathering gave way to something more familiar. Former classmates caught up, memories resurfaced and stories from student life found their way into conversations once again. It was a reminder that an institution’s relationship with its students does not end at graduation.
For K J Somaiya Medical College & Research Centre, the Alumni Meet 2026 was therefore more than a reunion. It was a celebration of a growing community of healthcare professionals connected by a shared beginning, and a reflection of the enduring place the institution holds in their journeys.
Some students leave with a degree. They return with a lifetime of memories.
