Leadership today isn’t defined by titles—it’s tested in moments of uncertainty, shaped by empathy, and driven by the ability to navigate diverse perspectives.
It’s this shift that formed the core of the Leadership Training Workshop held on 14th March 2026 at K J Somaiya Institute of Management. Bringing together NSS volunteers from K J Somaiya College of Nursing, the workshop was organised in collaboration with the Centre for Diversity Management and Inclusion (CDMI) at KJSIM, with a focus on preparing students for the realities of modern leadership.
Across the day, sessions led by Dr Priya Kataria, Prof Preeti Rawat, and Prof Prema Basargekar moved beyond conventional frameworks to explore leadership as a lived practice. Participants engaged with themes such as decision-making, unconscious bias, women in leadership, emotional intelligence, and time management—each session encouraging them to reflect not just on what leadership looks like, but what it demands internally.
One of the more engaging elements was the use of creative thinking exercises through picture books. This unconventional approach pushed participants to interpret, question, and communicate in new ways, reinforcing the idea that leadership is as much about perspective as it is about action.
What stood out was the deliberate emphasis on dialogue—recognising how critical it is in shaping effective leaders today. By creating a space where students could share experiences, challenge viewpoints, and learn from one another, the workshop actively contributed to building more aware, confident, and collaborative individuals.
The day concluded with a reflection session, where participants articulated how they would carry these insights forward into their roles within NSS and beyond.
At its core, the workshop reflects a larger institutional intent: to move beyond academic learning and invest in shaping individuals who can think critically, act responsibly, and lead with intention in an increasingly complex world.
