World Breastfeeding Week Celebrated by the Department of Child Health Nursing

As part of the global observance of World Breastfeeding Week, the Department of Child Health Nursing at K J Somaiya School and College of Nursing organized an awareness program on 1st August 2025. This year’s theme, “Invest in Breastfeeding, Invest in the Future”, emphasizes the need for strong support systems to encourage and enable breastfeeding practices among mothers.

To mark the beginning of the week-long celebration, the 2nd Year GNM students along with their faculty actively participated in a Street Play and Slogan Rally aimed at raising awareness about the significance of breastfeeding. The event took place at Sion Railway Station, where the students performed a well-researched and impactful street play highlighting the benefits of breastfeeding for both the mother and the child, as well as the role of family and community support.

Following the street play, students conducted a slogan rally carrying eye-catching placards and chanting powerful messages to engage the public and spread awareness.

The initiative was well-received by the local community and commuters at the railway station. Many appreciated the efforts of the students in promoting such an important health message through creative and interactive methods.

This activity not only helped spread public awareness but also provided students with a valuable opportunity to enhance their community outreach and communication skills.
