The Lamp Lighting and Badge of Honour Ceremony at K J Somaiya College of Nursing, held on 18th February 2026, was a celebration of both beginnings and achievements. Bringing together students, faculty, parents, and distinguished guests, the ceremony marked a defining moment in the journey of aspiring and graduating nurses.
The ceremonial lighting of the lamp—an enduring symbol of knowledge, care, and service inspired by the legacy of Florence Nightingale. The atmosphere was one of pride and anticipation as 81 first-year students stepped forward to light their lamps and take the Nurses’ Pledge, formally entering a profession built on compassion and responsibility.
The focus then shifted to celebrating the achievements of the graduating batch. Forty-one students were awarded the Badge of Honour, recognising their successful completion of rigorous training and their readiness to step into the healthcare system as professionals. The moment reflected years of discipline, perseverance, and growth.
The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest Mr Rajabhau Rathod, President of TNAI Maharashtra, along with Satish Modh, Pro-Vice Chancellor of Somaiya Vidyavihar University. Their words encouraged students to carry forward the values of integrity, empathy, and excellence as they begin their professional journeys.
Academic excellence added to the celebratory spirit of the day. Shrutika Shravan Desai was honoured with the Arcies Trophy for outstanding performance, while Gayathri Lad secured the runner-up position.
Heartfelt reflections from graduates and parents brought a personal touch to the ceremony, capturing the pride and emotion of this milestone. More than a formal ceremony, the day stood as a celebration of dedication and transformation—welcoming a new batch into the profession while honouring those ready to step forward and make a meaningful impact in healthcare.
