Speed, Strength and a Standout Star

By the time the first race began, the energy was already unmistakable.

On 11th March 2026, Smt S K Somaiya Junior College of Education turned its Sports Day into more than just a schedule of events — it felt like a campus-wide surge of adrenaline. Students weren’t just participating, they were showing up to win, cheer, organise and own the day.

It started simply. A quick warm-up led by Aparna Singh. Then, almost seamlessly, the ground shifted into competition mode as Mr Surendra Vade stepped in to kick things off.

And then came the races.

The 100-metre sprint set the pace early, with Aparna Singh claiming the top spot. But as the day unfolded, one name kept returning — Judy Chirayath.

Shot put. First place.
Discus throw. First place.
400 metres. First place.
200 metres. First place.

Not a one-off win, but a pattern. Consistent, confident, and hard to ignore.

The relay race brought a different kind of thrill — less about individual brilliance, more about timing and trust. Hindi Medium First Year took the lead, followed by Marathi Medium First Year and English Medium Second Year, with every baton pass pulling louder cheers from the sidelines.

And those sidelines mattered.

Because what stood out wasn’t just who won — it was how present everyone was. Students managing events, calling out instructions, backing their classmates. It felt collective, not competitive in isolation.

By the time the prize distribution began, the momentum hadn’t dipped. Judy Chirayath was announced Champion with 23 points, with Aparna Singh close behind at 19. Well deserved, but also expected by then.

The final image of the day? Not the medals. Not the podium.

A group photograph — slightly chaotic, full of smiles — the kind that says the day was as much about showing up together as it was about winning.
